We offer one-on-one homework assistance and a warm nutritious meal from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm throughout the school year. Youth Alternatives also provides fun, varied after-school activities for youth. Options include video games, board games, pool, foosball, crafts, volleyball and badminton, bingo, fishing, structured and unstructured outdoor games, plus skating and movie outings. Many of our activities are learning-based and incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Some examples of our past STEM activities include: taking apart and reassembling a computer, engineering boats, creating glow-in-the-dark slime, learning about yeast/making bread, and constructing mini-catapults. The Summer Food Program ensures that youth are receiving a nutritious meal each day while students are on summer vacation from school. This meal is served from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Executive Director - Corrine Carbaugh

Corinne became the Executive Director of Youth Alternatives in September 2022. She has been with the agency since January 2016. Corinne received her Bachelor’s in Science of Education (Elementary Education/Art Minor) in 2004 from Clarion University of PA. She is passionate about helping kids and the local community.

Corinne has served on various committees, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Oil City Arts Council, and Oil Region Indie Music Festival. She currently contributes to the Public Arts Committee, which is responsible for the amazing murals that appear throughout Oil City.

Corinne spends free time with family and friends, though she can often be found at home, cuddling her two kitties, Pam and Kahlo, with her husband. Her interests include reading, crafting and the arts, music festivals, camping, and kayaking.

She wears many hats in the Director position, but her favorite is when she can spend time with the YA kids. That’s what encourages her and reminds her that the work she does is important and much needed by the youth. She feels lucky and grateful to have like-minded staff that share her work ethic and passion for kids.
